woot! brid.gy is now (finally) sending twitter favorites
#
snarfed
can't believe i had to implement twitter's streaming api for that
#
snarfed
but it's done
#
snarfed
now let us never speak of this again

are there any indieweb thoughts on providing offline readability for posts?
#
snarfed
KartikPrabhu: not sure i understand what that means
#
snarfed
oh, nm, i misread
#
KartikPrabhu
for example: I have found long-form articles that i wanted to take with me to read on a bus or something.
#
KartikPrabhu
that does seem like overkill
#
snarfed
another option is a service like pocket, readability, or kindle + one of the many bookmarklets to send a web page to your kindle
#
KartikPrabhu
snarfed: the last one is indeed interesting. includes dowload as epub to keep it platform independent
#
snarfed
definitely!
#
snarfed
migration cost for this kind of thing is pretty low though. the docs are pretty ephemeral, assuming you don't care about archiving them - you'll read them soon after sending - so you won't build up a collection you need to bring with you if/when you switch

…and IndieWeb, like Open Data, is so important for Indie Data that I can’t even imagine how much harder Prometheus would be to do w/out it.

@indiewebcamp does it matter if I use https or http on links if a service provides both - like Twitter? Getting auth errors w/ Twitter.

@treevis Yes, https != http. But in this case it's more problems with Twitter's SSL certs. /cc @indiewebcamp (http://aaronparecki.com/replies/2013/12/30/1/indieauth)

Interesting that the federated social web projects are being organically rebranded as indieweb.

That's the way to do it :) You can always iterate the design over time too, once you've got a solid structure to work with
#
ShaneHudson
Yeah. I will stick on Wordpress for the time being, might add some POSSE etc if I can. I want to make it easier to find content... it is not strictly speaking a blog, so the old content is still pretty useful/interesting

benwerd: I've got some exciting stuff I'm about to publish regarding indieauth, and I think it might interest you since you haven't yet implemented indieauth in idno yet
#
benwerd
ooh. I'm all ears
#
aaronpk
Basically I'm putting OAuth 2 into indieauth (or the other way around, wrapping indieauth around OAuth 2)
#
aaronpk
up until this point we've only been using indieauth for authentication, but now we can use it for authorization
#
benwerd
Okay, that's actually big news - I can use the heck out of that
#
benwerd
Looking forward to the post!
#
aaronpk
excellent
#
aaronpk
so far it's coming in the form of some readme's on github projects
#
aaronpk
i will try to do a high-level post about it as well though
#
bear
aaronpk - I look forward to that also! the security and auth people where I work will be excited also
#
benwerd
Oh, I see - that's even better in some ways. I'll watch GitHub and pick up and play with it :)
#
aaronpk
great! woudl love to get some more eyes on it too!

Reading the README.md, this seems very simple to implement
#

Aaaand I'd somehow missed micropub. OK, I've got work to do.

php :/
#
aaronpk
the necessary changes are not yet live on indieauth.com, though they are implemented https://github.com/aaronpk/IndieAuth
#
aaronpk
yeah whatever, PHP cause a lot of people use it and it's easy to read
#
bear
k - I'll still watch it
#
bear
not being negative about php - just that php is not in my skill set
#
aaronpk
but the readme is written generically, it just mentions the PHP functions that do the thing described
#
bear
nods
#
aaronpk
i'll probably write a Ruby version soon too
#
aaronpk
unless someone else beats me to it. it's basically just parsing rel values and making POST requests though, nothing super complicated
#
bear
ah - that means my level of PHP may be useful to get it over to python or node
#
aaronpk
ok so: the README here is sufficiently complete if you would like to start looking at it! https://github.com/indieweb/indieauth-client-php
#
bear
thanks

#
bear
hmm, I will endeveavour to get some of my python code worthy of including in this repo
#
aaronpk
my next steps are: 1) launching the changes to indieauth.com so you can actually run that code, 2) document and publish my client helper project, 3) document and publish my iphone app that counts my pushups, and finally 4) a blog post that describes what all of this means
#
benwerd
Golden. I'll build some cold for Idno as soon as I can.
#
aaronpk
wonderful!
#
benwerd
I'll also implement Micropub, but every page on Idno is also an API endpoint in itself, so I'll make sure the same token mechanism works there, too.
#
benwerd
* Build some code for Idno.
#
benwerd
I might drink more coffee before I do that.
#
aaronpk
ah cool! I think micropub needs more work as well, so feel free to document issues/problems/whatever on the wiki page
#
aaronpk
I feel much less solid about the micropub things than I do about the new IndieAuth things
#
benwerd
I'll be vocal / submit pull requests ;)
