bear: I had an interesting issue with requests and certifi recently - newer versions of certifi don't include cross-signed certificates (bc mozilla and chrome removed them), but OpenSSL 1.0.1 doesn't support the newer certs yet
#
kylewm
so if you have Ubuntu 14.04, you have to use the certifi package from last April for it to work
#
kylewm
(not related to your issue with SNI I don't think)

#
KartikPrabhu
gRegorLove: it looks fine to me
#

ie why does the reply context have your site's header text instead of the note text?

more for backup
#
matrrix
I don't have much of a network on Flickr and never really have had one

That seems to be how most folks use flickr these days when I poll my circles, heh
#
tantek
code works when it's exercised
#
tantek
though it seems my photos still get some photo interaction
#
tantek
so eventually those interactions / responses will show up on my site via Bridgy backfeed

mcverryj1, it won't. Your theme is filtering them.

Oops,, they left
#
bear
^^ is loqi celebrating ground hog day ??
#
GWG
bear, who is your favorite groundhog?
#
bear
the one I see every morning outside of my office window
#
snarfed
i need to do something about that recent up-and-to-the-right trend :P
#
bear
ouch - not the trend you want to see
#
snarfed
eh it's roughly following user growth
bengo joined the channel
#
snarfed
still just ~$.02-03 per user per month...but regardless, agreed
#
bear
sure, but that can mean it's time to find a host or vendor that is growth resistant cost wise
#
snarfed
"growth resistant cost wise" exists?
#
bear
well, kinda
#
snarfed
ie hedge by buying hosting futures and locking in a rate? :P
#
bear
where COGs is flat or less tied to user count
#
bear
right - if your usage is consistent you can lock in a year long host cost
#
snarfed
yeah, so the slope turns into a step function, stepping at each contract cycle
bengo joined the channel
#
bear
and it gives you time to prepare for any moves you need due to change in growth curves (up or down)
#
snarfed
it'd definitely be worth looking into if the numbers were higher
#
snarfed
we'll see

sure, if the current $ spend is not yet painful
#
snarfed
yup. it's still comfortably less than we spend on eg cable tv (sadly) :P
#
bear
yea, I know that feeling - my 3 servers is less monthly than comcast internet + cable

what is bridgy running on?
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "bridgy running on" yet. Would you like to create it? https://indiewebcamp.com/s/10Cp

sknebel: app engine
#
mcverryj1
thx GWG, I will have to figure out what themes best play with bridgy
#
GWG
mcverryj1, it is a simple edit.
#
mcverryj1
or just start seeing if I can tweak the setting in all the webmentions plug-ins
#
GWG
Webmentions are comments of type webmention.
#
GWG
Your theme only shows pingbacks and comments
#
mcverryj1
so I should switch to sempress?
#
mcverryj1
is it pretty?
#
GWG
mcverryj1, I could probably help you edit the theme.

snarfed: with that GAE cost, is there one thing driving it mostly? (cpu, storage, bandwidth, memcache, etc.?)

kylewm: thanks for asking! it's roughly 2/3 cpu (frontend instances), 1/3 datastore ops (reads/writes)

oh yeah i'm certain it's all network i/o
#

the annoying part is that it can serve happily with only one frontend instance, but app engine's scheduler doesn't handle it well and almost always keeps a second one up

do it! i love app engine's app stats. perfect for this. https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy/blob/master/appengine_config.py#L37
