[shaners] it looks like Heroku itself allows you to track a Github repo, so that's useful for people that are forking DM, but less useful for turnkey ability

couldn't you set up a repo with a 2nd remote origin and when you pull in changes trigger a deploy? Not automated, but a start?

!tell TonyD: miklb has the right idea. Until Dark Matter has software updates built in, the process looks like this to update a site that is deployed using the Heroku Deploy Button (assumes you’ve already git pushed to heroku before based on your previous messages). 1) git clone git@github.com:darkmatterapp/publisher-server-rails.git 2) git remote add heroku https://git.heroku.com/[YOUR HEROKU APPNAME].git 3) git pull origin master

shaners, for /2016/homepage - to get some thoughts started, have you seen examples of homepages of communities that you find more welcoming / inspiring? I also think this feeds well into the /Generations discussion (per who is the audience).

aside: I like how we our use of /2016/... is refuting all assumptions of needs for strict namespaces/delineation and such, since we're using /2016/... for both IndieWeb Summit 2016 sessions, and the home pages of other 2016 IndieWebCamps

shaners, great. Also I'd like to take this opportunity to challeng you to come up with a *positive* framing/focus for a homepage redesign, rather than avoiding/improving on "still too overwhelming". "make it responsive" is a good start, but we could do that with existing content. As you said, we can do better. :)

tantek meant to say: when did you start publishing first to your site with those post types, instead of PESOSing / backfilling?
#
[shaners]
I’ve always published articles directly to my site. I just had a long complicated way of creating files, regenerating my whole db, pushing it up… it was a mess.
#
tantek
e.g. see https://indiewebcamp.com/ownyourdata both How and IndieWeb Examples description
#
tantek
but now you're posting more than just articles to your own site first right?
#
[shaners]
Oh yeah. Notes, events, etc. Articles are the only posttype that’s been first party the whole time.
