GWG KevinMarks: It's a blocker for Webmentions as well as Pingbacks. The comment flooding function won't let the same site ping more than once every fifteen seconds...which is an issue if you link to more than one article.

sknebel also, a lot of creepy vs non-creepy is what you do with the data, not how you get it ;)

miklb sknebel creepy might not have been best phrase. I'm just not sure Google analytics is the path I want to go, not familiar with other options. I'll check out piwik. I've seen mention of it before

sknebel I think a tool that just analyzes your server-logs might be an easier start then. but I don't have any experience about that either (right now I can get an overview over my traffic by reading the logfile by hand, it isn't much ;))
