role is an h-card property (marked up usually as "p-role") that can be used on a homepage to provide a summary of what that person does and/or how they perceive themselves, often providing a summary of what they post about.
A role is a brief way of introducing yourself, should reflect the things you post about, and thus is a good opportunity to provide readers of your website a personal summary of what is it that you do in general.
How
Use the p-role property to markup your role inside your h-card on your homepage

wall is the original name for a feature launched on Facebook which is a user's stream of updates shown on their profile page, similar to the main stream of posts you might show on your indieweb homepage, however with key innovations such as allowing your friends to "write" (create) posts on your wall, and also showing others' public posts that person-tag you.
Since its launch, Facebook has renamed the "wall" feature to "timeline", but the term has been in use so long that it's still used.

Joseph Richardson is a web developer in the Ann Arbor, MI area. I was instantly intrigued by IWC after discovering it two years ago and am just now getting the time to give it an honest chance.
The schedule is still in development and is open for suggestions based on the attendees. There will likely be some participant sessions determined the day of the event on an open session grid, as well as a few scheduled speakers.
All times are local times. We'll sync-up sessions across the different locations as we can!

required properties are an anti-pattern that has been solved with microformats2 - originally the result of unfortunate parsing/consuming code centric assumptions, often captured in IETF RFCs (like vCard, Atom) and propagated (like into classic microformats) that put undue burdens on publishers and result in a worse UI, poor data, and publisher confusion.

The Grid is an in-progress website design tool, officially designated as "AI Websites that design themselves". As of June 2015, the website will take your credit card information and says "Beta roll-out beginning in June 2015".
smart template engine or generating layout from content
The "AI" component is quite unclear up to this day (on the 16th of October 2014).
Provided the team at thegrid.io and especially from what Henri Bergius bio suggests, we might be able to contribute in a near future to open source bricks designed in a NoFlo flow-based programming environment
Content would most likely be hosted on GitHub (via GitHub pages), following this official example.
One might wonder if content could easily be hosted elsewhere by late Spring 2015 (according to the current roadmap and for "founding members") and rendering layout be similarly custom-tailored.
