Yesterweb is an archived website and was a community (Discord, Mastodon, Hubs, Gemini, Minecraft instances) that “focused on nurturing creativity and diversity in web pages and digital social infrastructure”, with a number of member contributed manifestos, some of which referenced IndieWeb.

Shutdown

Several aspect of the community have shut down due to stress on the organizers in the face of rapid community growth[1].

Culture

It's fun to be nostalgic about old design choices and aesthetics. There’s a lot of comfort in nostalgia, but’s more of an 'icing' than a 'cake'. We aren't blind to the shortcomings of the early web, instead we see the potential that was lost. And sometimes we just want to dress up our websites!

    finding out that #yesterweb blew up due to a 'digital guerilla' manipulating things behind the scenes, trying to make YW into a 'post-marxist' movement based in the #indieweb while keeping all of that on the down-low to attract regular nostalgic webdevs into the community was... Not on my 2023 bingo card frankly!
