IndieWeb Summit Introduction is the opening session of IndieWeb Summit 2019.

IndieWeb Summit organizers will lead you through:

Day 1 Introduction

Speaking outline

  1. Announce: Welcome to the ninth annual IndieWeb Summit!
  2. Introduce co-organizers: Aaron Parecki, Tiara Miller, Tantek ร‡elik (lavender lanyards)
  3. Show code-of-conduct, contact an organizer for any reason anything is not awesome
    • Note recent addition from XOXO: marginalized peopleโ€™s safety over privileged peopleโ€™s comfort
  4. Also show Mozilla Community Participation Guidelines (video), since Mozilla is hosting the event.
  5. Photo policy: use red lanyards for no, yellow for please ask
  6. Live stream: on by default, if you don't want to be on the live stream, pick seats not visible in the video (e.g. back half of the main room)
  7. Stickers and pronouns โ€” use the pronoun pins near the stickers!
  8. Tools: IRC/Slack, this wiki, https://etherpad.indieweb.org/
  9. Overview of IndieWeb Summit day 1: show 2019/Schedule

Barcamp sessions introduction

  1. Intro to how Barcamp sessions are scheduled
  2. Note: Red, Orange, Yellow room sessions have video and will be recorded
  3. write THREE THINGS on a notecard:
    1. session name,
    2. your name,
    3. session #hashtag - used for tagging and etherpad.indieweb.org/hashtag
  4. Session scheduling!
  5. Summit leaders call *start your sessions* at start time
  6. During sessions, appoint at least one person to take notes in etherpad
