account migration

account migration (AKA account portability, or the ability to move your account) is a specific kind of migration when a user switches from using one account on a particular server to using another account on another server, typically when both servers host multiple accounts, and has the common problem of losing followers.

Announced 2025-06-05. At launch, will let people migrate from Bluesky to the fediverse while keeping all of their followers and many of their follows. Post-launch roadmap includes support for the reverse direction and to/from IndieWeb, eg micro.blog, Ghost, WordPress, etc.
